It's that time again! Welcome back to rewind. The blog post where we share, educate and vibe out with you to our favourite tracks. With decades of good music to go through there's only one thing left to do - get into it!
This week we are looking at one of the most played radio hits in the UK. “Crazy” by SEAL is one of those iconic songs of the early nineties. The song was a joint effort between songwriter Guy Sigsworth and SEAL. Sigsworth was at the top of his game during this time, helping produce hits for SEAL, Björk, Goldie, Madonna, Britney spears and Alanis Morissette. Taking on politics and the events of the time, the song was SEALS response to the fall of the berlin wall and Tiananmen Square massacre.
After the song was released it wasn't long before folks across the pond began to pick it up, making it SEAL’s first top ten hit in the US. People in the US even compared the track to Marvin Gaye's “What's going on”, High praise indeed!
The iconic music video is pretty bizarre, it features Seal performing the song against a white background interspersed with multiple Seals sitting a revolving drum and a female dancer in a leather outfit. At the end, Seal holds a dove while snow falls on him. The vagueness of the video doesn't really seem to demonstrate the reason behind the song. However, it's super 90s, there's big leather jackets, lace, snow and doves! Awesome.
