Somehow we missed this film last year. This film was shot way back in 2016-2017 but due to lots of shenanigans both in Woody Allen's personal life and media companies this film has sat on the shelf unreleased. Sadly, it seems it wasn't well received on release because of its similarity to other works by Allen.

However, I loved it and think it's a breath of fresh air amidst a background of mass made movies. If you're looking for a relatable, light-hearted movie then this could be a perfect choice! As I said, this film was directed by Woody Allen and it has his signature faced paced dialogue style throughout. (It actually caused me to go through and see what films he'd done in the past and check I haven't missed any!)

The story follows two characters Gatsby Welles (Timoth'ee Chalamet) and his girlfriend Ashleigh Enright (Elle Fanning) who are visiting New York. Throughout the storyline both characters are led down different paths both revealing what each character's flaws and wants are. It's also worth noting that this film features an all star cast including Jude Law, Solena Gomez and Liev Schreiber.

Unfortunately, it's hard to discuss this film without giving too much away! All that can safely be said is that it's worth watching. It's full to the top with charm and although it's set in modern times it has the feeling of being timeless, through the soundtrack, wardrobe and character focus.
