Weekend Watch: Blue Crush (2002)
This weekend's watch was chosen because, well, we all rather be surfing. No, it wasn't just chosen for that. Who doesn't love a bit of drama, competition and love? Put on your best swimsuit and get the popcorn ready for Blue Crush.
If you want to feel the rush, you have to take the risk.
Anne Marie (Kate Bosworth) is a surfer who once had a promising career when she was younger. However a near fatal wipe-out put a hold on her becoming a star in the surf world, adding a notch of anxiety to the sport she loves. After her mum ran out on her, Anne Marie decided to chase her dream once more, committing every morning to surfing and working during the day at a luxury hotel to get by. She lives in a beach shack with her younger sister, Penny (Mika Boorem) and her two friends Eden (Michelle Rodriguez) and Lena (Sanoe Lake). All together, they help raise Penny who has become a little bit rough around the edges, which adds to Anne Marie's personal stresses. Things start to look up when Anne Marie is approached to compete in the upcoming Banzai Pipeline competition. If she is sponsored, all her troubles will be wiped away and she can take proper care of her sister and friends. All she needs to do is concentrate on her goal. All seems on the right track until pro-footballer Matt Tollman (Matthew Davis) arrives at Anne Marie's place of work and love strikes. Will Anne Marie keep her focus? Will Penny go entirely off the rails? Watch to find out!
The bikinis, the accessories and the language. Take us back to the 2000’s! But seriously, a fun, drama-filled and inspirational flick to enjoy.
