Bulletin: The Way Way Back (2013)
This weekend, we are reminiscing about our first part-time summer job. The cool ones were always the hardest to get - a video store, a record store or a cool book store. But radder still, a waterpark. Spending the summer at the pool is the most ideal and this turns out true for our main character in this weekend's watch, The Way Way Back.
We've All Been There.
Duncan (Liam James), an awkward and insecure 14 year old, is not a popular kid. His mother, Pam (Toni Collette) is painfully aware and wants to help boost his confidence, perhaps in a little too overbearing way. Pam's boyfriend, Trent (Steve Carell) invites the two to his beach house for the summer and Pam wonders whether Trent's influence will do Duncan some good. Susanna (AnnaSophia Robb) Trent's daughter, has no time for Duncan and abandons him upon arrival. Not a fan of the house dynamic, Duncan goes his own way and ends up at the Water Wizz water park. The park's owner, Owen (Sam Rockwell) takes a shine to Duncan who becomes a default employee. This new found bond with Owen and the other employees of the water park helps Duncan flourish, just when things at home are going south.
A heartwarming comedy with a cast that is just too good to be true! We hope you enjoy :-)
