Praxis is a plain word for a good idea: watching people do the thing they do. We asked Palmetto Studio to spend time with five women and film them working, and what came back is four short films and a set of portraits that have almost nothing to do with selling shoes.

Amy Ram — skateboarding

Louise Madzia — ceramics

Louise starts by drawing what she wants before she touches the clay, which is not how most people describe throwing a pot.

Maria — styling, photography and graphic design

HRJ and Wong — Holly Rae Jones and Naomi Wong

Who made it

Palmetto Studio is Maria Maleh and Justin Moore, a London pair who do art direction, photography and graphic design and who happen to live and work together. We've worked with them more than once — they also made the Home of Classics films with us.

Bricks Magazine covered Praxis when it came out.

This was the spring summer 2018 Vans Vault collection and it's long gone. What we have now is in our women's footwear.
