Collection: Women's Footwear

This is every pair of women's footwear we stock, from around twenty-five brands. If you know roughly what you're after, the quickest route is trainers, boots, sandals or casual shoes. If you'd rather browse by brand, the links below will get you there faster than scrolling ten pages of this one.

Where to Start

Four pages cover most of what people want. Trainers is the biggest by some way, with Veja, Karhu, New Balance, Diadora, Novesta and Puma. Boots is mostly Red Wing, UGG and Clarks, and it's the one to look at from October onwards. Sandals holds the Scholl and Birkenstock cork and wooden footbeds. Casual shoes is Wallabees, penny loafers, boat shoes and leather mocs. Everything on those four pages is also on this one, so if you're not sure which category something sits in, this is the page to scroll.

Running and Trail Shoes

The part that doesn't fit neatly anywhere else. Hoka covers the road, and the Bondi is the heavily cushioned one most people mean when they say Hoka. Mizuno's Wave range is the quieter alternative and usually cheaper. For off-road there's adidas Terrex, with the Agravic for trail running and the Free Hiker and Trailmaker for walking, Merrell's Moab and Agility Peak, and Norda, which is the small Canadian one made from Dyneema. These all use grippier outsoles than a normal trainer, which is the point, and it also means they wear down faster on pavement. We'd buy a running shoe half a size up from a lifestyle trainer, because feet swell over distance.

Sizing and Looking After Them

Sizing varies more between these brands than anyone expects, and it's the single commonest reason for a return. Novesta comes up large, Common Projects runs true, Scholl's wooden styles have no give at all, and Birkenstock makes a regular and a narrow in most shapes. The size guide on the individual product page is worth thirty seconds before ordering. On care, most of what we stock is leather, suede or canvas rather than synthetic, which means it marks and also means it can be cleaned and, in the case of the Goodyear-welted Red Wings, resoled. A suede protector before first wear is the cheapest thing you can do for any of it.
