Women's Taion down jackets and vests, from the Japanese brand founded in 2016, whose name means "body temperature". Taion's speciality is inner down: light, packable pieces made to sit under a coat as easily as they work on their own. TAION Inner Down Jackets and Vests

Much of Taion's inner down uses 800 fill power down, where 600 is more usual, so a thin jacket holds a lot of warmth for its weight. The crew neck button-down jacket and vest have no collar, so they sit under a wool coat or a blazer without bunching at the neck. The V-neck button-down vest goes over a shirt instead. What they won't do is stand in for a raincoat. The shell is water-repellent and copes with a shower, not a proper downpour.

TAION Military, Mountain and Work Down Jackets

Beyond the inner down, the lines get more specific. Military pieces come in a soft-shell fabric with snap buttons and zips, and include the V-neck zip vests, a long down jacket and, less expectedly, a down skirt. The Mountain line adds boa fleece, in high-neck jackets and vests, plus a light down hoodie. Two of the Work jackets are cut in corduroy. For the coldest days, the Volume Hood Down Coat is the longest piece here.

How TAION Fits

Taion sizes on an Asian scale, so start with the size you'd take in a shirt and go up one if you'll wear it over a chunky knit. The down skirt is easier than it sounds: wear it with a heavy jumper and boots, the same way you'd wear a wool skirt.
