Last year, Jasmine Lasode won London’s Nike: On Air sneaker design competition for 2018. The local competition was entered by hundreds of Londoners and offered the chance to work in collaboration with Nike to put their unique designs into action.

Jasmine Lasode, a young graphic designer from Cornwall worked on the Nike Air Max 97’ to reimagine a “London Summer of Love”.

Jasmine was inspired by the time she first went on a date with her girlfriend Lauren when creating the London exclusive, Nike Air Max ’97. Everything about the shoe is inspired by this special memory of Jasmines from the flooring of the corner shop they visited to the ’97’ motif tape detailing which was inspired by the vibrant price tags found on the fruit and veg. Working on an Air Max 97 silhouette opens opportunities that sneaker heads around the world would die for! Jasmine played around with the sneakers iconic components like the ‘Air Max’ which is found on the tongue of the sneaker by rewriting it as Air 24/7, as an ode to the late night hours corner shops are open until. The gradient overlays have been updated with bright and bold summer colours reminiscent of the colourful houses found in Primrose Hill, which is where Lauren and Jasmine went on their first date. Now, a year later, Jasmine is releasing London’s Summer of Love exclusive sneaker with the support of Nike and looks back on her journey with Nike from sketch to sample.

“"I want them to just feel good vibes and summer vibes. I made this shoe out of love and happiness, so I just want someone to put it on and feel a little bit happier."
