Collection: Kappy Women's Clothing

Kappy Design started in Seoul in 2020 and builds everything round one idea it calls 3-LESS: sizeless, genderless, and made to last. Most of the range is one size, cut loose enough to work from a small to an extra-large, which sounds like a shortcut and isn't: the shapes are drawn that way from the start. The Two Tuck Wide Trousers are the piece people come for, alongside the half shirts, the check jackets and a smaller run of women's skirts and dresses. There's more in trousers and clothing.

Kappy Two Tuck Wide Trousers

Eighteen of the eighty products here are trousers or shorts, and the Two Tuck Wide is the one to understand. Two pleats at the waist, a very full leg, and a cut that hangs rather than hugs. It comes in cotton, in denim, in a lighter kation and in a pigment-dyed version that fades unevenly on purpose. The Pintuck Wide Chino is the tidier option and the One Tuck Fatigue Corduroy is the winter one. These need a shoe with some weight under them: a chunky trainer or a boot balances the volume, where a thin sole disappears underneath. The waists are elasticated or drawstring on most of them, which is how a one-size trouser manages to fit a range of people.

Shirts, Half Shirts and Tees

Worth knowing before you order: in Korean sizing, "half" means short-sleeved rather than cropped. The Half T-Shirts are ordinary short-sleeved tees, the Pigment Henley Neck Half Shirt is a short-sleeved shirt, and the Fatigue CN Half Pants are shorts. Nothing here is cut short at the waist. The check and plaid shirts are the heart of the range, in flannel, country check and nomad plaid, and they are cut generously enough to wear open over a tee. The Morning Half T-Shirt comes in a Toru Fukuda edition with an illustration on the chest, which is the one we'd pick if you want something with a bit of character.

Jackets, Fleece and Knit

The shirt-jackets do most of the work: the Canvas Work Shirt Jacket and the Padding Shirt Jacket sit between a shirt and a coat and cover most of a British autumn. Above them are the Corduroy Mountain Jacket, the Fleece Bomber and the Button Hoodie Anorak. The Stripe Fleece Zipper Vest and the Reversible Nylon Check Vest are the layering pieces, and the Ringer Round Wool Knit is the only proper jumper. The fluff sweatshirts, the Bear and the Yeti, are the softest things on the page and also the ones that will pill where a bag strap sits.

Sizing, One Size and the Women's Cuts

Most of this range is genuinely one size. Kappy draws the pattern loose and lets the shape do the fitting, and in practice that covers roughly a small to an extra-large. It will not work for everyone, and if you prefer clothes that follow your shape rather than hang away from it, this is not the brand. Alongside the one-size pieces there is a smaller women's run that is cut to size in the ordinary way: the Flare Banding and Cotton Fatigue skirts, the Band Collar and Gingham Check Linen dresses, the Pocket Half Shirt Dress and the Back Button Overall. Those carry women's in the product name, so it is easy to tell which you are looking at. Check the measurements on the product page either way.
