FAQs
-
Padded slip-on slippers from Tokyo, built around an idea the brand calls the winter sandal: a sandal warm enough to wear barefoot in cold weather. The upper is quilted and padded, the sole is thick moulded rubber, and they go on without bending down.
-
Yes, for short trips. They're made to go from the house to the bins, the car or the corner shop, with a proper rubber outsole rather than a soft slipper base. They aren't walking shoes, so don't plan a day out in them.
-
No. The uppers repel water, so drizzle, slush and a wet pavement are fine, but they aren't sealed like a wellington. If a pair does get wet, let them dry naturally away from direct heat.
-
Subu uses its own numbered sizing rather than UK sizes, so check the size guide on the product page. Bear in mind the padded upper takes up some room, and thick socks take more.
-
The Vamp Platform has a chunky raised sole that adds height and lifts your feet further off a wet pavement. The Dots Vamp is lower, with a softer, fleecier finish, which makes it the easier one for mostly indoor wear.
-
Tokyo. The brand grew out of the Japanese habit of taking shoes off indoors, and the problem that creates in winter, when a summer sandal is no use and a boot is too much for a two-minute trip outside.
