The Wedgie brand began with founders Mark Scholes and Hayley Evans, who met in Sri Lanka in 2007 and later married. In 2014, they partnered with Mahendra, owner of a local wooden handicraft workshop with 25 years’ experience, to create Wedgie. The brand combines pop culture and Western-themed designs with community empowerment, supporting local craftsmen in Sri Lanka.
