feature: Lily Forbes Shafroth styles the reebok dmx run 10
Multi-talented, Lily Forbes Shafroth is a stylist, designer and admirably conscious when it comes to design and production. Studying cultural geography and poverty systems at the University of California at Berkeley and fashion at Central Saint Martins, her eponymous brand is a marriage of her love of design with her ethos around sustainability. Lily’s line, under the brand name, LILY FORBES features an array of meticulously designed and considered range of long-line robes. Lily is inspired by traditional silhouettes across all cultures and 20th century sportswear, rooted in her love of travel, inheriting her grandmother's’ clothing and a childhood of soccer and hand-me-downs. Lily values robes as a traditional staple in any culture’s fashion history, considered genderless and ageless, they can be private, they can be public and ultimately versatile. Having grown up in the mountains of Colorado, her mother’s social activism and her father’s career as a lifelong conservationist have additionally shaped her approach to production. Lily describes her approach as, "looking through a lens of environmental and social responsibility." The pieces are produced with a fair trade production house in Delhi, India, employing women facing gender and caste discrimination. The fabric used for LILY FORBES is 100% naturally dyed and hand woven with the Ali family (4 generations) outside of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Lily recently spent two months living and working with the production team. Visiting all facilities she sources from, she's is consistently present to ensure production is completely transparent and ethical.
With her latest range of stunning robes, Lily and Jessica headed to Parliament Hill athletic track in London to style the Reebok DMX Run 10. All three colour ways are available on www.pampamlondon.com.
