Dolphin shorts, Ringer tees and... you’ve guessed it, Nike Runners! The 1970s is one of our all-time favourite time periods for sport style, so we’ve put together a list of our favourite retro runners!

It was 1973 when Nike created it’s first-star running sneakers, two years after the globally renowned brand was born. The brand developed key running styles with America’s star running athlete in mind, Steve Prefontaine. Steve’s strength, indisputable achievement and winning personality, made his the very first person to make running cool. His association with Nike helped establish the Swoosh as a trusted running brand and transform the company from national shoe distributor to worldwide brand!

As we reflect on Nike's heritage, we take a look at some of our favourite retro-runners from the time period! Originally released in 1979, the Daybreak has stood the test of time, coming back around again in this very beautiful ‘Pale Ivory’ and ‘Pollen Rise’ combination. Our second retro runner comes in an array of delicious retro vibin’ colourways, the Internationalist includes the beautiful ‘Copper Moon’ and the very classic, ‘Noble Red’ iteration. A sneaker for champions, the Internationalist originally released in 1982 at the New York Marathon and was worn by champion distance runner Alberto Salazar.
