adidas Originals Spezial is back for 2020 and it’s inspiration comes from a special time and space that’s nestled in the late 1960s, England. A new style and taste were being explored and built upon that was dubbed Northern Soul. The 70s saw London’s ‘Soul boys’ setting their own style agenda whilst working class youths in the north were requesting rare, fast-tempo soul records in the clubs and dancehalls of Wigan and Blackpool. These young men and women created their own localised interpretation of American soul music and laid the foundations for much of the styling for the decades that followed. Spezial brings a contemporary take on this story, rediscovering long-lost gems from the adidas archive and creating premium editions. We will be releasing two styles, the Lotherton SPZL and Ashurst SPZL on the 12th of June.

The Lotherton SPZL takes the much loved Ardwick SPZL silhouette from the very first SPEZIAL collection and re-adjusts it to create a completely new hybrid that uses the vintage adidas Florida colour-way.

The Ashurst SPZL - based on the adidas Sydney from the City Running Series - rejuvenates a hard-to-find shoe from the adidas archive and gives people the chance to finally get their hands on this vintage silhouette. The colourway is a delight and lends beautifully to the '70s/'80s history of the brand and of the time.

Both of these styles will be released on the 12th of June online :-)
