House of Sunny Womenswear

House of Sunny started in 2011 in a studio flat off Kingsland Road and it's still in Hackney. Sunny Williams was a tailor before he was a designer, and he runs the label on two seasons a year in small numbers, so if something catches your eye it may not come round again. What we've got is mostly the mesh — the double-layer tops and the skirts — plus a dress or two and a cardigan.

House of Sunny Mesh Tops

The double-layer mesh top is what House of Sunny is known for now, and it's most of what's on this page. Two layers of fine mesh rather than one, which is what stops it being see-through and gives the print a bit of depth when you move. The Hydrangea is the floral, the Zebra and the Tropical do what they say, and the plain ones are the ones to go for if you want the shape without the pattern. They're light. Under a jacket in autumn, on their own from about May.

House of Sunny Skirts and Dresses

Skirts and dresses are what most people come looking for and the range in both is small, so they tend not to hang about. The Hydrangea skirt is the mesh again, cut off-centre at the hem so it moves. The Blossom skirt is the plainer of the two and pairs with the Blossom top if you want a set. Of the dresses, the Seashells applique is the one that gets photographed and the gingham balloon cami is the one you'd actually wear to lunch.

House of Sunny Trousers, Knitwear and Jackets

Worth a look if you've come for the tops and want something to put them with. The Sea Breeze pant matches the Sea Breeze top, the Capri is exactly that, and there's a heavy straight-leg denim that sits under everything. The Peggy is the knitwear — a rib knit and a cardigan with rolled cuffs — and the Cruise flight jacket and Winslow bomber are the two outer layers. The Signature Cap has the logo on it, which is the only place the logo appears on anything here.
