Bulletin: adidas x Mickey Mouse

2020 was the year of the Rat, and adidas marked it with a mouse. Close enough, and the joke is better than the accurate version would have been.

Two shoes

The pack put Mickey across the lateral sides of the Superstar and the Stan Smith — the two flattest, most familiar shapes adidas has, and the two most people already own in white. Which is why they work as a canvas: there's nothing on them to argue with a print.

The Stan Smith version keeps its green heel tab and adds Mickey in black and white down the side. The Superstar goes red, with the character sitting against the shell toe.

The bit worth having

Inside the heel, printed where only the person wearing them will ever see it: "Out of Office".

That's a good detail. It's a holiday shoe, made for the fortnight when a large part of the world stops work and travels home, and the joke is placed somewhere it can't be photographed for a product listing. You'd only find it putting them on.
