Women's Aries Clothing & T-Shirts

Aries is a London label built by Sofia Prantera and the graphic artist Fergus Purcell, who met working at Slam City Skates and have been putting classical columns and rats on clothing ever since. Aries Tops, T-Shirts and Sweats

The tees are what most people buy first, and the graphics are the point: the temple, the column, the rat, the fly, printed and faded so a new one already looks worn. There are baby-fit cuts alongside the regular ones, so check which you're looking at, because the difference is considerable. The sweatshirts and hoodies get the same treatment, washed and aged rather than sold crisp. We'd wear a temple tee with wide jeans and trainers and leave it at that; these are graphics that don't need help.

Aries Jeans, Shorts and Shirts

Prantera has said she feels more herself in jeans than in anything else, and it shows: the denim is where the tailoring goes. Alongside it are poplin and western shirts, boxer shorts in stripes and lace prints, and knitwear in leopard and boucle. It's not cheap, and the aged finishes mean two pieces of the same style won't look identical, which is either the appeal or the problem depending on how you feel about it.

The Temple and the Rat

The temple logo is a joke about old Italian fashion houses, the sort with columns on the label, and Purcell's other graphics exist to pull it apart: rats, flies, ruin, decay. Prantera has described the whole identity as the temple and the rat held together. It's the same instinct that produced the brand's other well-known line, No Problemo, and it's why an Aries tee can sit in a luxury shop and a skate shop without either looking wrong. Purcell is also the man who drew Palace's triangle, which tells you where the graphic language comes from. The brand has always sold its clothes as non-gendered, in sizes rather than departments.
